Active Play Centre in Stittsville

Is there anyone still reading my blog? I haven't posted for a very long time and I apologize for that. Our website on Ottawa is still being updated as often as we can. Hope you have been reading that!

Anyway, I came on here because someone recently responded to my post about Moo Zoo. As far as I am aware, it has been closed but I haven't been there myself to see it closed. I have only heard from friends.

I did want to let you all know about this amazing new facility in Stittsville called "Active Play Centre". It is awesome. We brought our girls there on the weekend and we will definitely be going back again. They have some very interesting equipment that focuses on sport & exercise as opposed to just "play". There were children in there that ranged in age from 15 months to 8 years old and they were all having fun!

There are sport simulators, martial arts simulators, dance machines and much more.

Here is link to their website: Active Play Centre

The Moo Zoo in Stittsville! Great for the kids!

Just last week some friends and I got together and brought our children to a new facility called The Moo Zoo (love the name) in Stittsville! It was amazing. It is an indoor playground for children aged 0-8. All of our children stayed in the infant area because they were under 3 but they all had a blast. The area for older kids looked even better but we didn't have any children old enough (yet). If you are in the west end, you should check it out. Fun, fun times!

Here are some other great ideas for families in Ottawa. Have fun with the kiddies!

Motorcycle Ride for Dad in Ottawa this weekend

Have you heard of the "Motorcycle Ride for Dad"? It is one of the most unique fundraising events that I have ever heard of. It is quite simple - men, women & children collect pledges for prostate cancer and then ride their motorcycles on a specified route across various cities in Canada. The one being held in Ottawa is this Saturday, May 26, 2007.

Part of the route takes place on the Aviation & Ottawa River parkways and then it takes the riders to the Ottawa Valley.

A few years ago I sat in a friend's driveway and watched thousands of bikers go by (well, it seemed like thousands). They looked to be enjoying themselves, gave me a quick wave as they went by and I will honestly never forget how choked up I got after every biker passed.

If you get a chance, check it out.

Here is their website if you want more info:

I have a feeling that this year's Bluesfest is going to be one of the best ever. The concert lineup is amazing. It is going to be difficult to decide on who to see. Artists include Kanye West, INXS, Blue Rodeo, George Thorogood, Steve Miller Band and so many more. Way too many to list here.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Festival, check out our Ottawa Bluesfest page on our website.

PLEASE NOTE - the location of Bluesfest is back at LeBreton Flats across from the Canadian War Museum.

Last weekend of Winterlude

This is just a VERY short message to remind everyone that this weekend is the last weekend for Winterlude 2007. Make sure you find some time to stop in at one of the events taking place or go skating on the Rideau Canal. It isn't supposed to be too cold this weekend so it should be perfect.

Have a beavertail for me, ok? I won't be able to make it this weekend.

Have fun & enjoy!

The Red Violin Concert in Ottawa

For those of you looking for something to do this Friday, January 12th, how about checking out a concert called "The Red Violin"? The Thirteen Strings Orchestra will be performing at St. Andrew's Church on Wellington at 8pm for their first concert of the New Year.

For more information please visit their website Thirteen Strings.

It will obviously be a great concert for violin lovers but would also be a great idea for those who want to do something different on a Friday night.

Enjoy the concert.

My apologies for my absence. Life outside of blogging and our website on Ottawa has been very busy. I won't get into any of the personal details but I will apologize to any of my "regular readers" if I had any.

Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa

What are you doing for Canada Day this year? We find that the older we get the less we want to do on Canada Day. Usually it is just a BBQ with friends at our house. Don't get me wrong, this is still fun but I think this year we may venture downtown and check out some of the festivities. There is so much going on this year. I don't remember all of these activities when I was younger.

If you are interested in reading more about everything that is planned in Ottawa, then check out our Canada Day in Ottawa page on our Ottawa website!

Happy Canada Day everyone!
