Get those feet sandal ready!

There is nothing like a day at the spa! Actually, an hour at the spa is just as nice. Having someone else take care of you and give you a massage or rub your tired feet & hands is sooooooo nice!

I saw the greatest thing the other day. I walked into one of the Spas in the west end and there were 5 guys sitting getting pedicures, laughing it up and drinking beers (they brought them in themselves). Supposedly, their wives bought them each a gift certificate so they could all go in together. Obviously most men wouldn't want to go in to the spa alone. Anyway, all this to say that Spas are for everyone now.

Why not check out one of the Spas in Ottawa? You could even go get a couples massage or something just for yourself!

What a great way to prepare those feet for sandals now that the weather is getting warmer!

Living in Canada's Capital City

As our site continues to progress we realize that there is so much information that we also want to provide to residents of Ottawa. Ottawa is not just a tourist city it is also home to almost one million people. When we started our website we knew we wanted to help out old residents, new residents and students find more ways to enjoy our fabulous city.

So, we have started a section about Living in Ottawa. Let us know if you have some ideas on what to add.

Cheers,
The Ottawa Information Guide Webmasters (haha - there is no way we are webmasters quite yet)!

How we did it

A lot of our friends and family are asking how we built our own site. They know us better than anyone and they know that we never took any computer programming courses and that we didn't know the first thing about building a website.

We figured seeing as they were interested in our story, you may be too. So, with that in mind, we wanted to give more information on Site Build It (SBI) and how it helped us complete "newbies" build a site of their own. Read more about it on our How We Built Our Website page.

On the move in Ottawa

Thinking about buying a house in Ottawa? Not sure where to start or even what to buy? It has been almost one full year since we moved into our brand new home in Ottawa. We love it! However, we know what it was like trying to decide between a brand new home or a previously owned home. For us and our lifestyle the best choice was to go with brand new.

To help you out a little, we have compiled a list of pros & cons of buying a new vs. a previously owned home in Ottawa that you may find interesting.

We also created a page on Buying a Home in Ottawa that may help you out too!

Happy house shopping! Try not to stress about it too much and have fun with it!

Another tip: Even if you aren't buying a brand new home it may be a lot of fun to go check out some model homes (great place for decorating ideas!

Page # 52 and counting...

I can't believe it! We have 52 pages on our website so far. Our homepage only went live on January 1st and we already have 52 pages. That may not seem like a lot to some people but to us we think it is grand!

Our 52nd page took a bit longer than usual to build a page because I had to use some HTML but it was easier than I thought it would be. Check it out for yourself - here is our 52nd Page!!!

We are still having a lot of fun with the entire process which we think is one of the most important things about building our site. We have actually started to tell a few people about it too (my parents & my sister). We don't want to tell too many people yet because we don't think they would understand!

Good luck to the rest of you who are building your own sites! If you are using SBI then you will agree with us that they make it easy and fun!

A good meal & a good laugh in Ottawa

Last night we went out with some friends for a night out. We ended up having a great meal at Johnny Farina's on Elgin Street. The service, the food & the wine selection were all excellent. We all said that we would return again. There are so many amazing Ottawa Restaurants to choose from.

After the meal we went to Yuk Yuk's which is a Comedy Club here in Ottawa. As usual, the comics put on a great show and we had a good laugh. We all need a good laugh now and again, don't we? If you are ever looking for something to do on a night out then don't forget about Yuk Yuk's.

Ottawa is such an exciting city. There is a huge variety of things that you can do here in Ottawa. So many different events and attractions to choose from.

Mmmmm...Beaver Tails (the pastry - not the animal)!

Have you ever heard of beaver tails? The ones that are made here in Ottawa are absolutely delicious. This pastry, made from wholewheat, originated in Ottawa but can now be found all over Canada. They are even showing up in other countries too.

You can get different toppings for your beaver tail. You can have cinnamon & sugar (our favourite) or you can try cheese & garlic or if you want to stick to the sweet flavours you can have jam or chocolate sauce. Mmmmmm!

Read more about beaver tails here.
